About

WOSPFM is seeking a Social Media Manager.  The Social Media Manager helps our organization engage in conversations with the general public that helps us share our message and spotlights the stories our elders have to share with the world. 

You will be searching the internet for positive, uplifting content and opportunities to share, editing longer interviews into snippets to share via social media, and engaging the public in the comments sections of our posts (answering questions, continuing the conversation, and doing so in a strong, positive manner).

This is a remote, unpaid volunteer role
for 10-15 hours a week. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the message – its delivery and the way it’s received – from WOSPFM to the public
  • Prioritize campaigns that reach the appropriate audiences, who can help the organization reach its stated goals
  • Manage internal and external communications so the voice of the organization is consistent
  • Maintain consistent and active communication with Ed to ensure there is continuity in program messaging and engagement
  • Ensure WOSPM’s mission, vision and philosophy are consistently practiced throughout online engagement with the public.

Requirements

  • Passion for empowering the elders of West Oakland to have a voice within the community
  • Collaborative, authentic and efficient work style
  • Strong project management and multitasking skills
  • Excellent writing, editing, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals and groups
  • Ability to make decisions and follow through with minimal supervision
  • Strong knowledge and active use of social media
