SIGN UP IF INTERESTED FOR THE 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR 

Virtual or in-person volunteer opportunity! One hour per week minimum commitment. Use our lesson plans to help a K-4th grade student learn to read on grade-level. Training provided and an on-site program coordinator to provide support and ongoing coaching. Work with the same student each week and watch them grow!   

Flexible volunteer times on Monday-Thursday between 8am and 3pm. You can choose from any of our 23 school locations to tutor in-person. Virtual tutors will be matched with a student at one of these school sites. 

Requirements:

  • Attend a tutor orientation to be trained as a volunteer - no previous teaching/tutoring experience required! 

  • Must be 14+ years old

  • (If 18+ years old) Complete an annual background check (at no cost to you)

  • In-person Tutors - must have your own transportation

  • Virtual Tutors - must have a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam and microphone.

Our students will inspire you! Rigorous research has proven that Reading Partners’ students significantly increase their reading proficiency while in the program. In fact, in 2019, 85% of all Reading Partners students met or exceeded their primary end-of-year growth goals.

Requirement Details

Wondering if you should register to volunteer? Based on the CDC guidelines, we are asking you the following questions:

  1. Have you been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19? See the CDC’s risk assessment guidance.

  2. Do you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19? Symptoms can include a cough or shortness of breath or at least two of the following: Fever, Chills, Repeated shaking with chills, Muscle pain, Headache, Sore throat, New loss of taste or smell. See the CDC’s symptom information.

If you answered "yes" to any of those questions, we ask you not to register. We are doing all we can to align with best practices and keep our community healthy.
