Missing Maps is a project led by a collective of organizations working towards a common goal of creating accessible map data where humanitarian organizations are operating. Each member organization carries out its own mapping activities with its wider communities guided by shared ethics. Missing Maps would be nothing without this collaboration of participating organizations, communities, and individuals. To achieve this goal, Missing Maps organizations grow a global community of mappers to support those living in places at risk as they put themselves on the map. OpenStreetMap is the volunteer-driven open data mapping platform that makes all of this possible, supported by the not-for-profit OpenStreetMap Foundation. Welcome to the community!
This process requires about 30-60 minutes on your own watching videos and doing the tutorials to learn how to do this, then you can map for any projects currently in their system! You can do it from your own computer or even by phone with the App Mapswipe. Please go to this website to create an account and start a project: https://www.missingmaps.org/beginner/
The volunteer will need to create an account and show documentation via email of the project they completed, with exact dates, times, and screenshots of the work completed, and a reflection of what they have achieved. The description of logged impacts in GivePulse will be crucial.
