ECHA County Food Guide Project

Open Opportunity

About

The ECHA County Food Guide Project provides an interactive map of Alabama counties housed on aub.ie/foodguides. Visitors may click on their county and find a list of local food resources. Volunteers and community partners maintain and update a database of resources from which the map is populated by contacting the resources directly and adding new resources as needed.

Volunteers and interns are needed to act as County Ambassadors, ensuring that information for each Alabama county is up-to-date and accurate.

Requirement Details
Volunteers and interns must be over the age of 18.  Each volunteer or intern will go through a brief interview with an ECHA staff member and will receive training materials and a mandatory training overview (approximately 30 - 60 minutes).  All participants must have access to a computer, internet, and a phone.

This volunteer opportunity is remote and flexible; it may be adjusted to the volunteer's or intern's available hours.

Volunteers and interns should be self-motivated and must be able to work independently.  Professional email and phone communication skills are a must; volunteers will be interacting directly with members of the community.

Interns must identify a field supervisor and must sign an internship agreement in order to receive course credit for participation.
Perks
In addition to the satisfaction of providing resources for Alabama citizens in need, the Hunger Solutions Institute at Auburn University sponsors this project and regularly provides volunteers and interns with "swag" to help promote this crucial resource.
