About

Join our Youth Team as a Classroom Assistant! If you love empowering youth to do and be their best, then this is a great opportunity for you. Each Sunday, we offer an engaging youth program for ages 4-18.

Classroom Assistants are asked to help the teacher by being an extra chaperone, helping with set up and clean up, and genuinely being there for the kids. We ask that all volunteers for our youth program submit to a background check and commit to one Sunday per month for the whole semester (approximately 4-5 times). Volunteers are asked to arrive at 9:30 AM and stay until 11:15 AM. We are currently waitlisting volunteers for Summer and Fall.

Training is provided for all volunteers.

Wondering if you should register to volunteer? Based on the CDC guidelines, we are asking you the following questions:
  1. Have you been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19? See the CDC’s risk assessment guidance.

  2. Do you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19? Symptoms can include a cough or shortness of breath or at least two of the following: Fever, Chills, Repeated shaking with chills, Muscle pain, Headache, Sore throat, New loss of taste or smell. See the CDC’s symptom information.

If you answered "yes" to any of those questions, we ask you not to register. We are doing all we can to align with best practices and keep our community healthy.
Perks
Volunteering with our Youth Team means supporting and empowering kids, which we believe is a huge perk. However, we are also happy to sign off on volunteer hours, provide job references, and letters of recommendation for our consistent volunteers. Working with the kids frequently includes snacks (take home during covid), crafts, and games. We love to support our volunteers through additional training opportunities as they come available, including professional development, cultural competency, and youth health issues.
Parking Details
Free parking is provided on site. We are also located a walkable distance from some parts of UNCG's campus. Bikes/skateboards/scooters are also okay in the parking lot.
