Each year, Ohio University honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We honor Dr. King for his work toward racial equality and justice for all people and for his dedication to nonviolence. 

Join the Center for Campus & Community Engagement and take part in a letter writing campaign to your local, state, and/or national representatives about current issues that matter to you.

How to Participate:

1)      Identify What Issues Matter To You.

2)      Identify Your Elected Officials.

To find your local, state, and national elected officials:

3)     Call, Email, Or Write To Your Elected Officials.

You can decide how you prefer to contact your elected official. The essential things to include are:

1.  Your name and zipcode so they know you live in their district,

2. The issue or specific piece of legislation you are concerned about AND what you want them to do about it, and

3. A statement about why it matters to you.

4)     Report Your Impact

Wondering if you should register to volunteer? Based on the CDC guidelines, we are asking you the following questions:
  1. Have you been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19? See the CDC’s risk assessment guidance.

  2. Do you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19? Symptoms can include a cough or shortness of breath or at least two of the following: Fever, Chills, Repeated shaking with chills, Muscle pain, Headache, Sore throat, New loss of taste or smell. See the CDC’s symptom information.

If you answered "yes" to any of those questions, we ask you not to register. We are doing all we can to align with best practices and keep our community healthy.
