About

The Ysleta Young Women's Leadership Academy is the only FREE, all girl, college preparatory serving girls in grades 6-12 (middle school and high school). Our program has foundation of STEAM curriculum with a focus on our core values: Responsible Leadership, College and Career Readiness, and Wellness Life Skills.Our young women are exceeding academic expectations and proving all students, regardless of their background or socio-economic status, can excel if given the right opportunity.

This volunteer intern will play a key role in helping support our college prep, leadership and girl empowerment programs by fulling the following duties...

Volunteer Intern Role:

  • Assist with developing marketing and communication plans.
  • Assist with content creation and social media management
  • Aid in event planning and fundraising.
  • Assist with developing content for social media, email newsletters and website
  • Aid in designing promotional materials.
  • Be active in community relations and outreach events. 
  • Raise awareness of the organization by distributing brochures and flyers
  • Attend events and meetings as needed and report the proceedings.
  • Spread the word with community members.
  • Answer phone calls and provide good customer service.
  • Draft letters and memos as well as grant writing.
  • If bilingual help translating written and verbal communications and documents.
  • Help in office management and record keeping.
  • Help with event logistics for girl empowerment events.
  • Recruit community partners and volunteers.
  • Take photos at special events.

Requirements:

  • A passion for our mission!
  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university and in good standing.
  • Must be comfortable with Zoom and Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work in a team environment but also work strong independently.
  • Ability to be organized and detailed to balance several projects simultaneously.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Skills preferred: Bilingual, social media , writing, creative thinking, critical analysis , curiosity, making connections
