The Ysleta Young Women's Leadership Academy is the only FREE, all girl, college preparatory serving girls in grades 6-12 (middle school and high school). Our program has foundation of STEAM curriculum with a focus on our core values: Responsible Leadership, College and Career Readiness, and Wellness Life Skills.Our young women are exceeding academic expectations and proving all students, regardless of their background or socio-economic status, can excel if given the right opportunity.
This volunteer intern will play a key role in helping support our college prep, leadership and girl empowerment programs by fulling the following duties...
Volunteer Intern Role:
- Assist with developing marketing and communication plans.
- Assist with content creation and social media management
- Aid in event planning and fundraising.
- Assist with developing content for social media, email newsletters and website
- Aid in designing promotional materials.
- Be active in community relations and outreach events.
- Raise awareness of the organization by distributing brochures and flyers
- Attend events and meetings as needed and report the proceedings.
- Spread the word with community members.
- Answer phone calls and provide good customer service.
- Draft letters and memos as well as grant writing.
- If bilingual help translating written and verbal communications and documents.
- Help in office management and record keeping.
- Help with event logistics for girl empowerment events.
- Recruit community partners and volunteers.
- Take photos at special events.
Requirements:
- A passion for our mission!
- Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university and in good standing.
- Must be comfortable with Zoom and Microsoft Office products
- Ability to work in a team environment but also work strong independently.
- Ability to be organized and detailed to balance several projects simultaneously.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Skills preferred: Bilingual, social media , writing, creative thinking, critical analysis , curiosity, making connections
