Elevate Program Overview:
Elevate is a Therapeutic Rehabilitation Program (TRP) designed to reduce the effects of serious mental illness (SMI) and improve the quality of life for participants. Services are provided in group settings or one-on-one. Elevate uses psychiatric rehabilitation techniques that focus on learning daily living skills, developing emotional regulation, and improving interpersonal skills. Our goal is to help participants elevate their minds and enrich their lives while becoming more engaged in their local communities.
Under the guidance of professionals in a community mental health setting, students will increase their knowledge of serious mental illness in diverse adult populations. Students selected for the TRP Student Intern Volunteer role will shadow clinicians and other Elevate staff members as appropriate. Individuals selected for this internship will apply skills acquired in school to observe intakes, evaluation, and assessments. Interns in this position will have opportunities to develop and implement group therapy activities, review client education, administrative assistance, and advocacy for a holistic internship experience.
Interns in this position will utilize critical thinking skills, creative problem solving, and practical communication skills to complete detail-oriented tasks and assignments that align with the Elevate program and the student's practicum or internship course's academic requirements.
