Position Specifics: The Marketing & Community Outreach Intern works closely to assist the Student Coordinator of Marketing & Community Outreach to support the marketing and outreach efforts of the Student Community Engagement Center. The Marketing & Community Outreach Intern will take on a variety of projects, including but not limited to social media content creation, email outreach, tabling, and other tasks which help promote our center to students and the greater PSU community. The Intern will keep in close communication with the Marketing & Community Outreach Assistant and meet once a week to check-in and discuss projects and task delegation.
Orientation and Training:
There will be some cross-training with the Student Coordinator of Marketing & Community Outreach before the school year officially begins, after the September 16 start date, depending on the intern’s availability. The Student Coordinator of Marketing & Community Outreach will be there to answer any questions the intern may have.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
Ability to work independently, collaborate on teams, and learn new skills
- A sense of service and commitment to The Student Community Engagement Center’s mission
- A passion to learn more about marketing and outreach and connecting that with service and engagement
Some design skills preferred but not required (experience on Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
Ability to copywrite efficiently and effectively
Some knowledge and experience of using various social media channels

Location: This position has requires some in-person hours each week at the Student Community Engagement Center office in Smith Memorial Student Union (1825 SW Broadway) and has the option for some remote hours as well. There will be some opportunities to support in person outreach events throughout the year. The Marketing & Community Outreach Intern has the option of choosing whether to meet with the Student Coordinator of Marketing & Community Outreach virtually or in-person for weekly 1:1 meetings.
Supervision: The Marketing & Community Outreach Intern will report directly to the Student Coordinator of Marketing & Community Outreach, a staff member of the Student Community Engagement Center.
Schedule Available: 4-6 hours per week, depending on the amount of events and programs going on each week (outreach event weeks will tend towards 6 hours, otherwise 4 hours is fairly standard). At least half of the intern's hours should take place during normal 9am - 5pm business hours and be scheduled to overlap with SCEC staff hours.
