About
Dear Students,
On behalf of the Office of Civic & Community Engagement, welcome to the University of La Verne! We are thrilled to have you join the Leo Family! We are excited to introduce you to your FIRST ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE of the year! This day is dedicated to introducing you to the University's four core values: Civic & Community Engagement, Diversity & Inclusivity, Ethical Reasoning, and Lifelong Learning. On this day, all incoming first-year, transfer & first-year law school students will have the opportunity to engage with their fellow peers & FLEX faculty in a service project with one of our partnering community-based organizations. From painting murals to feeding the homeless, or participating in planting & harvesting food at a local community garden, you will be exposed to an array of experiences! This is what the LA VERNE EXPERIENCE is all about!
Please note the deadline to sign up online is SATURDAY, AUGUST 18, 2018, but we welcome walk-ins the day of the event. However, we highly encourage you to sign up online so we can account for your t-shirt and meal.
Once you have registered, the Office of Civic & Community Engagement will take care of assigning you a community service site & leader(s). First-year students will be grouped with their specific FLEX community & transfer students & law students will be designated a group as well. A FLEX faculty or staff leader, as well as an Orientation Week Leader (OWL), will lead you on this day. We will also take care of transportation and your meal!
