Kids' Cafe

About

Kid’s Café is a meal program run by the Salvation Army for kids ages 7-12, every Monday through Thursday from 5-7 pm. The kids come in, have a family-style meal, talk with volunteers, and then split up to go to the various rooms that contain different activities, such as arts and crafts, dodgeball, video games, jump rope, music, and computers!

Teen Night is a program for individuals ages 13-21, offered 6-10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. It is a safe haven and keeps them off the streets on the weekend. It is an opportunity for kids to come in and play videogames, basketball, dance, and have fun. They are also provided with dinner! Teen Night is perfect for those who cannot volunteer or service learn during the week but are free for a few hours on the weekends.

Kids Cafe also offers a
literacy program! The reading program pairs volunteers with Beech Street School elementary students in 2nd and 3rd grade, for structured reading, phonics, and writing centers, preceded by a short recreation and snack period. The Literacy Program is offered Monday through Thursday from 3-5 pm and is great for those who want a one-to-one relationship with the kids.
