About
Ombudsman Volunteers are the eyes and ears in long-term care (LTC) facilities and provide a voice for LTC residents.
Volunteers visit a nursing or assisted living home in their county a couple hours a month on their schedule after completing 16 hours of classroom training, related worksheets and videos, and experience in a nursing or assisted living home with the regional program. Volunteers will be certified to perform duties such as:
- Visit residents in nursing or assisted living homes
- Observe conditions and care
- Inform residents of their rights
- Assist staff ombudsman in addressing resident concerns
After training is completed, you may visit mornings, afternoon, evenings, or weekends. We look forward to talking with you!
