Alabama Wildlife Center

About

Founded in l977 as a small, home-based, all-volunteer organization, the Alabama Wildlife Center is now Alabama's largest wildlife rehabilitation center.

Since its inception, well over 50,000 native Alabama wild animals have been helped. The organization has been in continuous service 365 days a year for over 30 years!

AWC operates a Wildlife Help Line to provide free advice and information on how to deal with all kinds of wildlife problems and emergencies. It has been in continuous operation 365 days a year since 1982 and receives almost 4,000 calls yearly...more than 100,000 Alabamians have been helped over the years!

AWC is open to visitors every day of the year from 9am to 5pm for free self-guided tours. (There is a small park entrance fee.) Over 15,000 people visit each year to observe our wild bird patients and to learn more about our unique rehabilitation methods. Formal educational tours and presentations can also be scheduled (fee applies).

The Alabama Wildlife Center has just four full-time staff who care for the animals, provide educational programming and manage the organization's business affairs. AWC relies heavily on volunteers to carry out its various rescue, rehabilitation and public education services.

Mission: The Alabama Wildlife Center is Alabama's oldest and largest wildlife rehabilitation facility. AWC is a nonprofit organization whose dual mission is:
