Howdy, howdy, Folks!!
The Athens Area Humane Society rescues and protects companion animals by providing for their wellbeing, uniting them with loving homes, and advocating for a compassionate society. AAHS relies heavily on volunteers to save lives and participating in our volunteer programs means that you have a direct impact on pets in our community and beyond. We want every volunteer, big or small young or old, to feel the power of the impact they have on the animals we serve, and their community at large!
Before you can begin your volunteering experience, there is an application you must complete. You can find the application here. Applications should be filled out prior to attending an orientation session.
Orientations are held on Saturdays from 11 am- 12 pm. Please note, applications will not be approved until you have completed an orientation session.
This is the main hub for all of the splendid volunteer opportunities AAHS has to offer! The links below show the different ways to get involved: Adoption Center Volunteering, Wellness Clinic Volunteering, Enrichment Volunteering, Event Volunteering, Community Service, and Foster Volunteering!
Here are some resources to help you prepare for your volunteering shift, including our volunteer handbook, which should be read before attending orientation. You will also find a link to the Fear Free Shelter training which is not required, however, will greatly benefit your volunteering experience and impact! Last, but not least, you will find some information about our Doggy Day Out Program as well as our application to foster!
Apply to Foster!
I want to thank each and every one of you for the work that you do! Our work would not be possible without the dedication and impact of our volunteers!
