Hillcrest Retirement Community

Started the morning off with reading The Daily Chronicles and some Trivia to the residents. Witnessing their knowledge on famous people and history through the Trivia is always pleasing to witness because they are smarter then they seem. I was able to speak with two residents one on one and hear some of their stories. It is a pleasure to be here and experience this part of life.

Volunteering for Hillcrest has been great! I assisted a 91 year old man named Jack. He is partly to mostly blind and he works at the Thrift store. I volunteered at the thrift store with Jack and my job there was to mostly assist the thrift store team of 5 or 6 people with whatever they might need from moving furniture to bringing in donations to fixing tables. What I usually helped with was lifting heavy furniture that Jack couldn't lift on his own.

It was nice seeing 6th graders interact with the professors and asking questions about plants, embryos, and microscopes! I know they all had fun and enjoyed their lunch break at DavenPort. I want to try to volunteer on Saturday, hope I can make it.
