The University of La Verne

Greetings Everyone,
My name is Francisco Baldivia and I participated in the course titled The La Verne Experience (LVE 305) for Fall Semester 2023 (2nd Session). As the community engagement requirement for the course, I volunteered twenty hours of Community Service at a Community Partner in the City of San Bernardino called Mary's Mercy Center (Mary's Table - Soup Kitchen) My volunteer duties included conducting food preparation in the kitchen for meals to be served to economically challenged/homeless residents of the city, serving of meals, and assisting staff with receiving and unloading food and clothing donations from various organizations and religious ministries.
This was a very humbling and enriching experience for me to say the least, and I received tremendous personal reward from knowing I help contribute to providing and feeding the less fortunate with meals to help them in need. I highly recommend anyone looking to be involved with the community in this capacity to visit this organization. The staff is friendly and encouraging.

Thanks Savannah!
Hello everyone my name is Savannah McDonald I took a class at ULV online and I had to do 15 hours of community service. I decided to do my community service at both a hospital and a long term care facility. I also decided to do cute greeting cards for the senior citizens community at the facility. Lastly I also decided to paint some rocks with pictures and a positive note on them and hand them out to random people. The people that I chose to hand the rocks to looked like they were having a bad day or stressed day. If you want to give back to the community and help you can volunteer at Good Samaritian Hospital PIH in Downtown LA, Ca and at Covina Rehabilitation Center in Covina, Ca. Give back to the community it really does have you feeling great!
