OHIO’s Center for Campus and Community Engagement is seeking applicants for Community-Based Internships for Summer 2022. This program connects students to nonprofit and public sector organizations to engage in mutually beneficial internships that provide students with high impact experiential learning opportunities and provide community partners with tangible outcomes that directly benefit the southeast Ohio region. Positions are 17.5 hours per week for ten weeks from June 6th-August 12th with $12 per hour compensation. OHIO undergraduate students are eligible.
About BB2C: Building Bridges to Careers (BB2C) fosters student, business, and civic relationships to inspire career choices through experience, entrepreneurship and education. Through a comprehensive community engagement approach, BB2C involves local businesses and community members in programming that provides experiential learning to students. These programs include direct, experiential learning such as job shadowing, internships, mentoring, and curriculum that brings local community members into the classroom for problem-based learning. Additional programs foster students’ entrepreneurial mindset, encourage educator awareness and connection to the business sector, and provide hands-on application of academic learning. Intern Will:
· Work with BB2C staff in Marietta alongside BB2C staff in the BB2C Network, which includes all of Southeastern Ohio.
· Contribute to all of the various activities BB2C has going on such as STEM summer camps and Career Readiness Camps in Washington County as well as BB2C Network events.
· Participate in ongoing impact evaluation efforts and marketing of our BB2C programs, efforts that will inform funders and policy at the state level.
Position Role: Work both onsite and remotely to assist BB2C Epicenter and BB2C Network staff with activities and materials to facilitate the programs of BB2C. The ideal intern has interest and curiosity about many different subject areas and is self-directed and a problem solver. The ability to work independently, to create something from scratch with little direction is a key, as BB2C is changing and growing rapidly and needs flexible, adaptable people to nurture this growth! The intern also will have the opportunity to meet many adults in the community, including policy makers and state-level officials, so communication and professionalism are key.
Position Responsibilities:
● Participate in BB2C STEM camps and Career Readiness camp as staff facilitator on site in the BB2C Epicenter in Marietta
● Complete material development for Real World Problem Scenario
● Participate in BB2C staff meetings, weekly
● Participate in BB2C network meetings as needed
● Work with the Marketing and Outreach team to create newsletters, to create visual materials as needed
● Work with the research team on evaluation projects including data collection and literature research to support theory of change development
● Participate on projects with a variety of BB2C and BB2C Network Staff
● Assist in planning and outreach for the BB2C 3rd Annual CCCL Summit
● Complete other duties as assigned
