Shepherd's Pantry Irwindale

Erika Garcia

For my hours this week, I was able to perform the same task as last week in giving donations of food, clothing, and so much more to those in need. One thing that was different this week was that I came a bit earlier to help volunteer in actually packaging more of the foods given to those in need. Looking at the amount of food and more goes into each bags, it really inspired me to do the same with things I can purchase and afford. With this week, I was able to be less shy and do more giving and moving packages to peoples cars and more. One thing I was able to gather was that of the values of ABCD. One of these values was that of relationships formed with not only the other volunteers I worked with but with those I was helping. It really warmed my heart and made me happy hearing and seeing people appreciate and thank me for the help I was giving them and/or their families. Lastly, ways I showed reciprocity was that of donating my own goods to those in need. With coming in early, I was able to also package in some foods that I was able to buy. This made an impact not only for those who were receiving the food but to the pantry that was also taking in donations by showing that we as volunteers can also bring stuff.
